That was one of the main reasons why I bought a MacBook Pro instead of a Windoofs notebook (Occasionally I say "Windoofs" instead of Windows because the German word "doof" means something like "stupid" or "dumb" or "silly" - and in this case it's really bad to have Windows).
It's the same thing with Xtreme Mapping, it's Mac-only, too! Furthermore if you look on latency problems with some Windows notebooks, a Mac is the better choice.

Why is it so important to have the date of purchase in ID3-tags? What is the big advantage of it?

I use it along with play count and just kind of whether I remember a song or not. If I've had a track for a couple months, but I haven't played it and don't remember a thing about it, there's no reason to keep it on my laptop, so it gets deleted, forever banished to the depths of my archives.

    ah ok...
So you take your date of purchase as an indicator if your song is an active participant in your DJ-library. And how do you sort out? I mean, do you sit down every couple of months and look through your whole library? Or do you create a smart playlist which contains all inactive songs?

I do it manually, whenever my "000-CURRENT" crate/playlist gets to the point where I don't immediately recognize a song either for what it is or as being very new. So, how often it happens depends on how often I buy music.

    mh ok...
Now I'm thinking about adding to my (yet) small collection (~1200 tracks) the date of purchase
It's a good principle for sorting out, thank you!

I have mine set up like this:
    Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 14.45.22.jpg

It's based on year of purchase and a very loose genre classification (ie, prog folder probably has some Trance in).

In Traktor, I have all the years as playlists, and the Genre in the comments section, so it's easy to search. If I'm playing out, I prep a basic playlist with some starter tunes to get going.

AWESOME! I've my library set up with folders (named by genre) and within that folders every single track... now imagine my House folder where I put Bigroom House, Progressive House, Tech House, House (the classic House/Detroit House) and even Electro and Pop in! Yes, to say "full" would be fully understated
Thanks a lot! Now I know, how I'll bring in more system in my library!

I have a folder where I dump all my music by month, then I import it to Itunes to playlist called "Tag!!" where I rate each song, add a comment or something. When this is done, I move it to another playlist by genre and by set time, warmup, peak, close etc..

I'm actually thinking about hiding the genre display from Traktor's browser to make more room for comments2. The genre names (at least for what I spin) are getting to be quite meaningless.

You're right, if you have your playlists set up, you already know which genres you will play so the genre column is really unnecessary.
