Default Buyer Beware - now there ARE Fake HD25 ii !

    Quick Public Service Announcement:

It took a while, but it appears that there are now Fake HD25's out in the wild and I'm guessing are at this point are probably being sold on ebay.

I was about to buy a pair locally (they seemed a little too cheap), called first and the retailer informed me that they were "not original" but Class A copies.

I know there have been a ton of copies of Sennheiser in-ears the past few years, but its genuinely the first time I've heard of HD-25's being copied!

Images attached of the item which the seller says are the actual boxed headphones. I would go and check them out for curiosity's sake, but it would be a 3+ hour trip there and back.

On the upside it might end up being cheaper buying a pair of fakes for spare parts.

And no, the bargain alert I posted about earlier today on Newegg are NOT fakes. It was in my search in the local marketplace I turned these dodgy ones up.

Wonder what took them so long

On a serious note, thanks for the heads up. I was aware of fake Pioneer hdj-1000, 2000 and probably lower models. Fake Beats are almost prevalent.
Had a pair of AKG's in my hand that were made in China (not fakes) and the build quality was obviously lower then those made in Austria. When OEM's shift production to China fakes usually follow not far behind.

Truth be told, I have no idea.

I'm guessing by being careful and not ordering online from unauthorized dealers is the only sure way to avoid them (and other fake Senns like Momentum's and HD598's)

If you manage to listen to a pair i'm sure they probably sound completely different (crap), but still haven't been near the shop that was selling them to try them out. If I do i'll write something more and maybe take some up close photos.

    Are they SHIT?

Or are they worth the money you'll pay for 'em?

If they don't sound like shit, I might grab a pair, y'know, for "research" purposes...

From the video (materials they used, size of the driver and stuff said) I don't think they are worth it. But...if you find a beat up old pair of ORIGINAL HD-25 that need new pads (all of them) and a cable - 40 GBP is not a bad price for all three.
Would like to see if the fake cable sounds worse when plugged into original ones

It may not even fit - I know some of the other Sennheiser fakes have cables that do not fit real ones, it'd be hit or miss if you are ordering online.
