    Right on, you're right I misinterpreted what you were trying to say but as you know, most people come on here for help and when everyone started talking about higher frequencies than dogs can hear.. I was like no no no.

    Props for knowing your stuff though. He got his question answered and a quick lesson in Nyquist Theorem

    You're right. Turns out Cool edit actually creates mutiple temp files using reference to keep them pieced together in the project. Sounds like NI needs to get with the times. Does anyone here still use a 32bit OS and/or FAT32?

    Not just an old folks home ... Most of us over 40 yrs old will have a hard time hearing anything over 14kHz. So yeah 44.1 is fine for most purposes. You could use 48 if you're going to be editing the files in other software and you want some extra room to play around but it's probably completely unnecessary.
