I started DJing on turntables quite a while ago and made the transition digital by hooking up my laptop directly to my mixer. Using the keyboard of the laptop as the controls. This actually really got me into defining what I needed for going digital controllerwise AND learned me a lot about mapping functions in Traktor. Later on I bought the VCI 100 and now I'm rocking the OHM64.

As a new DJ, I would really advise you to invest in a good soundcard (audio 2 would be good, considering the discount with traktor LE) and try it out first with mapping the keyboard. There's really a lot to learn in that phase and gives you a good idea of your possibilities and your needs.
