i am new to sorting also...coming from vinyl and CDJs...so i had physical things to handle...made it easy...

i presort everything by folder "deep house" "beach house" and "club" then make those short cuts on traktor...and then create another playlist called "current" and drag and drop current gems into that...

i havent even got close to starting on my bazillion old school rap singles

plus i dont keep alot of stuff that i wont play...i dont collect music just to have it like some do...

Considering how iTunes is integrated with Traktor thats a pretty shitty principal. Why the hatred for Apple? Did Steve Jobs punch you or something? Or are you one of those "I bash Apple for anything they do" guys? Its easy to jump on one bandwagon or the other. I don't care who makes a product. If it works well, I will use it. No need to take sides on a stupid battle (Mac vs. Microsoft). I use both Windows and Mac. Both great systems. I have tried other software to organize my tracks and itunes is simply the best IMO.

Nosferatu: Thanks man! I've been doing the same thing for the last week. Instead of a folder for every genre I go with a folder called House, Tech, Electro, Deep etc. and then add the right tags. Now my problem is figuring out all the different genres 100% I'm having a really hard time separating tech, electro and prog. house.

No he didn't. Just because it's integrated with Traktor doesn't make other methods obsolete. Why the "hatred" (your words)? Well, I don't like apples philosophy on how to control/treat they consumers/developers. It's a long debate and I won't be taking it in this thread. There's lots of articles on the web explaining my points better than I ever will on a DJ forum

And just for the record, I'm not a MS fanboy, or a fanboy of anything really.

I think it's great that a lot of people like iTunes. It's just not for me, and again, I have my reasons.

    itunes is just so easy

the only thing id like to add would be a query window where i could write my own smart playlists instead of using the clunky ui

Its just youre looking for a solution to a problem that has been best solved by iTunes integration with Traktor.

It is honestly the best way to organise music in Traktor.

I've added a load of music that was on my old laptop to my new one. For some reason all the artists & names are in the 'Name' section in Itunes. Will Mediamonkey be able to rectify this?
Also, if its already been imported into Itunes before being rectified, will it need all need to deleted and then reimported?

Edit: It seems like it works for this. How do you get the Mediamonkey results to show where it matters?
Again, will it all need deleting from Itunes then reimporting?

I can't find Initial Key (like in windows) in the drop down toolbar at the top . I only get artist, genre, bpm etc, but nothing for key.
set up mixed in key to write the tag in comments. That's the only way you will be able to sort by key in itunes that I am aware of.

Purchase - Mp3gain - Mixed in Key - itunes - add extra tags inside of itunes - traktor is my flow

Anybody? I've moved all the files in Media Monkey to another folder, tried importing one into Itunes and it still has the artist and track name in the 'Name' field, even though in MM it recognises the Artist & Name seperately.
