I gave up all the "windows fixes" a few months ago, there's no reason to have to go bare-bones with all your settings just to "barely" fix it. Just pick up a cheaper sound card and route the audio output through that. Very very simple, I picked up the maya44 usb...I wouldn't recommend it though as it doesn't have volume knobs built into the hardware, so you have to use the software control panel. Not a big fan of that.

But the point is, no more dropouts! I can gig in peace finally!

pretty sad when one of the s4's biggest selling points is it's built in soundcard, ha. Native instruments should be ashamed to let these problems go on for so long. Doesnt seem to be a well run company, or maybe customer satisfaction isn't a priority

All windows users, try running the free version of gamebooster before giving up. It has worked wonders for my system. When I run it I get zero dropouts, without it I get a few here and there. Try it out and see if it works. I ended up paying 10 bucks for the premium version to show my support. Great product!

Downloaded. Does it run as a 'backround' app after installation? i.e. no control panel?

Default Problem solved by NI TUTORIAL.

There is a NI tutorial for windows tuning to make all work properly. For example here is link for windows 7.

    Default How I fixed it...

I use the S4 on just a Toshiba with 3Gigs of Ram running Vista and for some reason the same thing started to happen to me...

The program just would automatically start maxing out the cpu for no reason...

It screwed up a gig I had but luckily I had a backup...

I was just messing with it and for some reason after looking at NI's 1000 and 1 ways to fix it...I realized that my maybe I could just go into the power settings and change it to a performance power setting...

Apparently some how the power setting on mine got pushed to a Power "Saving" Setting...thus giving the computer lack to run the program...

So once I set it back to Performance...It's working just fine now...

I'm actually surprised it was that simple to fix...but that's what helped with mine!!!

    Hope this helps!

    Hey guys,

I am running a mac whos spec are in my sig...

I noticed that If I leave key lock on the S4 and I boot up there are crazy spikes and drop outs.

If I turn them off and restart traktor they go away.

The key lock takes loads of juice.

Im on the look to see if I figure out why shes so slowwwww

    Default usb audio

For those using AMD CPUs, you can try the AMD USB Audio Driver Filter, it fixes dropouts in some cases. Also make sure to update your mobo bios. It really sounds like NI screwed up the way the S4 deals with southbridge bandwidth. This turns me off the S4 completely.
