That is correct, we are artists of the highest caliber.

Yeah, I find it is useful even for those mixes where its just beat and no synth etc.

It just makes the KICK be in key too. Just sounds nice if you can get it right.

When i want to layer tracks etc and mash, its a MUST!

Then obviously the final check is my ears.

edit: So you have a track which is just a kickdrum and you run a key detection program on that?

    NO FOOL!

    LOL

If you are only TRANSITIONING in parts of the track that is JUST DRUMS (Beginning and End) ....then the key also helps...as the KICKS will be in key too.

If you are producing Psytrance, you will know that this makes a difference.

You build your track around the key of the kick....help its sound good.

Was refering to DJProben's comment. Should have quoted. My bad.

"^^this. even without "golden ears", you'll hear the key clashes. And consider that a lot of mixes involve the less "busy" parts of tracks anyway -- if there's no piano or horn in your mix point and there's just a kick and a hi hat, it really doesn't matter what key the song is in anyway."

But a singular kick cannot have a key, only a note. You need a sequence of notes to make a key.

Good producers tune their drums surely. Once you've got a couple in there technically you should be able to derive the key. In practise it may be a bit trickier than that.

Sure, its a note. But if that note is not in the key you working with or the scale...then its OUT.

So if your KICK is C.....arg.....not gonna get into the theory of it.

    You know what i mean...
