    I understand the purpose of the bill, but it seems as though they're simply going too far with it.

    I asked my political friend about this he says it can be portrayed as a national security thing to get more ground and that email campaigns are next to pointless with most politicians.

    Yeah emailing and online petitions don't do anything. Physical direct form mailing is much more useful.

    He said don't discount calling either. You can use the form above to find out who the letter goes to and then just google their names to get their office number.

    this is the point exactly i believe. The internet would take a 3 decade backtrack if this happens end of

    This is true. If you follow these type of laws you will see that congress/govt is actively trying to pass some type of censorship of the internet. IMO it's one of the important issues of our time. If you care, absolutely follow and sign the petitions and keep the internet free of restrictions.
