ouch... and max4live is 200eur on top of the price of ableton. seems a bit insane to me... i would love to have all that extra flexability tho to access/control more params within ableton.

Random question. If I'm using Traktor and Ableton via virtual midi and syncing the master clocks together...
What happens if my BPMs change during my mix in Traktor? Does Ableton re adjust or do I always have to reset them? Seems tiring
ableton will adjust it's tempo but the phase will probably be a bit out. if so you will need to press the "send clock" button in traktor (or midi map it to a button) which will cause it to send out a midi 0xfa "start" message again which should resync the phases.

Cheaper solutions:
1- Remote Scripts for "mixtape" feature and transport control (it could be possible even use the Serato scripts...)
2- LiveOSC + Traktor (it has some OSC support, right?) and maybe a pure data (the open source brother of maxmsp) with all these stuff you miss (this is not so "stable" but it's the most cheap solution)
3- Ms. Pinky maxforlive patch. Bento was improving few months ago but he didn't release it yet. I supose he was very busy with mapulator or Midi Fighter 3D software...
4- Virtualdj or Torq 2.0, booth have xml scriptable options that could accomplish more features than Traktor...
but it is ever the same question: Do you want to learn and make by yourself? Go for it. Do you want it now? Pay for it.
I think doing that will restart the ableton live set from scene 1 unless they've changed it. Also, Ableton doesn't go out of phase like that…it just takes forever for it to resync. It works better to use Live as the master…Traktor keeps up with tempo changes a lot better.
this is true - traktor seems to respond much more quickly to tempo changes

if you're using a master tempo anyway then no real biggie to tweak that with a fader that adjusts ableton directly instead of traktor - the result will be the same pretty much - it's just setting it's bpm to your fader via ableton.

If you're using sync, Traktor can follow Live and you can find a fader to add to Live to control your tempo for the night…and get better results than letting live's crappy clock-following ability trainwreck every time you change tempo.
So, basically……no.
