Plus, the less times you have to convert the signal path from Digital to Analog & back again the better.

edit: just saw you wrote digital out. i've yet to ever meet a single person in my 8 year career as a backline manager for festivals and clubs of touring world DJs ever use the digital coax OUT. same with the 1/4" mic on the back, unnecessary if there's a combo jack on the top (you shouldn't even run a mic straight into the mixer anyway but that's a whole other topic for discussion I'm not going to get into). As well, let's not forget that the djm900 is regarded as the top of the line mixer (ignoring the djm2000). A lot of the ins & outs make it capable for all sorts of scenarios, but it's main target market is festivals & clubs with proper sound systems. If they wanted to they could do away with the RCA master out, and since this new DJM900 has a USB on the top right for recording straight to a stick you could do away with the Rec Out RCA on back. the MIDI port is not necessary for reasons i've mentioned above. In regards to the Pro DJ link function, I feel like a simple software update would allow it to work with USB into a laptop. But I also have pretty much never seen a DJ use a laptop with Rekordbox (***note: NOT RekordboxDJ, talking about ProDJ Link). As well many laptops, including ALL of Apple's laptops for the past 3 years do not ship with an ethernet port built in anymore. A built in USB hub is also unnecessary and will never happen
4 CDJ's all operating on Rekordbox, traktor, or Serato all via HID would give reason for the built in usb hub. I dont know about you, but laptops also dont commonly come with 4 usb ports anymore either.

    +1 on the USB hub.
Even just 2 ports is enough

I would be ok with a built in USB hub if it also meant they forgo the Rekordbox link on ethernet. Just streamline the whole process and have them link with USB instead. keep the single Ethernet input for legacy compatibility with older CDJ's, and have the new XDJ2000 that I assume is coming have just USB on the back for data (and standard RCA & digital coax for signal)

    I can dig that idea.

About time the industry standard got 2x audio interfaces I don't see a real reason to upgrade from the original nexus unless you own a nightclub/bar, or really want the built in usb recorder which is nice and convenient. Most sites have pulled any press about this leak down. Pioneer must have turned up the heat for damage control

This mixer puts out two things that should and will be a industry standard: 2x audio interfaces and usb recorder. For me thats a milestone in it's own. Good job Pioneer
But, I'm interested to see what will be a answer from the competition - Denon has been long overdue on it's mixer line, A&H has brought out DB line also several years ago... good things to come I think

I agree, any pro club mixers should have dual audio interfaces standard. The mix recorder is more of an extra perk for Pioneer though, not something that I'd see everyone implementing.

I think to coolest thing I've seen as far as inputs are concerned is something that both A&H and Denon have already done with their flagship models; allowing you to choose any input source on any channel. It's a small touch, but I can see great benefits when switching from DJ to DJ as they can easily "jump" to whichever channel they'd prefer when getting on.

There is no easier way to record then to plug USB and press a button. DJ's can switch between usb, line, phono sources, use mic and it will all be easily recorded with it.

Matrix input switch. I can have 4 CDJ (2 on line, 2 on AUX 1 & 2), 2 turntables and Traktor/VDJ/etc (with 3 decks) connected at the same time and be able to mix between all of them without disconnecting anything. On my small 2 channel Denon X600
3rd deck in software is routed on the 5/6 usb channel using usb snd/rtn and you just press a button on the mixer and adjust the volume on the FX volume knob (pre-cueing available).
