MiL0 - that's almost exactly the path I took. I pretty much got off the d&b train after Logical Progression when it all got a bit too industrial though

My cousin gave me a "Wigan Pier 28" CD when I was about 12 /13 full of N-Trance, Kelly Loretta and the like. Most of my mates were still into party pop when I was first making tracks on "Dance Ejay". But it was ultimately my mates older brother with some old school Gemini TT's, the UK Garage scene and my first copy of "Junglist Massive" that got me into DJ'ing.

It was somewhere between Orbital - Halcyon & On & On and Underworld - Born Slippy.
1995 was a very good year, in general, though.

Anyone else feel the nostalgia when thinking back that far?

This song and, more importantly, the crowds reaction is what got me started.
There are a few different things that interested me and it was really like an evolution. The whole concept of the mixing 2 songs together fascinated me and the concept of the remix, but back then in the 80's, remixes weren't what they are today. A 12" would have an extended version which really wasn't much different than the regular version and you couldn't even tell it was any different. Some of them had longer intros or they kept building the beat up but alot of them weren't anything special. Some were just terrible edits, and weird rolls. Mid 80s they started getting better with different versions, dub versions, beats, stuff like that. I was a drummer so I was big into rhythms which led me to Rap, yes Rap before it was widely known as hiphop. The rhyming and the drum beats I loved. Then freestyle came along and all the beats and sounds were amazing and then house music started to really get big. This is when I got my first turntables and a mixer. But to this day when I hear...Planet Rock, Numbers, Tour De France....I'm 13 again and hearing them for the first time...greatest beats ever and all started by 1 group...Kraftwerk. EDM would not be the same without them. To this day its still about the beats for me first and formemost.
