Hip Hop isnt just about the records. Its about many many things. One of them is Scratch Routines and turntablism. You dont have to be able to dance to it fo it to be hip hop. It can just be mind bendingly clever and inventive and it is still hip hop. An element of hip hop.

The DMC is one of the purest elements of Hip Hop. Saying it aint hip hop is like saying Graffiti isnt hiphop.

    Jus sayin'
This comment is made of utter win.

Why is this thread still open? It seems obvious why the DMC doesnt allow DVS.

REASON: The DMC is about SKILL. Ofcourse people that use DVS has skill, but effects, loops, hotcues eases alot of the stress of scratching records.

Try to understand what was inside his head and then remember who is and what he done.

Notice how at the start of first babies video operator started to scratch video... Maybe casual, maybe not...
Look android legs, keytars and drums...

We are going backwards not forwards... to the roots!

"Only Skill focus dogma" trying to keep turntablism real is killing the HipHop Original Spirit and forgotten to learn ALL the concept from the roots that is trying to maintain.

Where is this AudioVisual Live Act performance spirit in actual HipHop or turntablism? Dj Yoda? SSL mixemergency plugin? DMC? Qbert Braintwisters?

At DMC not it is sure. It will be interesting ask DXT directly... maybe we understand more the present.

Default and with respect right back at ya karlos

having grown up in a time and culture prior to hip hop being commonplace, remembering a time when it was not such a popular mentality, (a time when a person was forced to forge their reality from cultural items designed for purposes [clothes/music/speech/ideas} other than a "made-to-wear hip hop costume"), and being the sort of person who metaphysically overstands the idea that hip hop is something you are and NOT something you do, I am in no way surprised by your opinion.
in essence, I'm talking about a time when being hip hop made you "stick-out" NOT "fit-in"

Since there are more DVS users than vinyl now, I suppose, the DMC is keeping it real by not fitting in.

We just made that shit up as we went along. You saw someone else do something and you were like that's cool, but the way you did it was a little different. It was your own style, but still cool. WAAAAYYYYY before South Pole and baggy jeans that keep falling to your ankles.

First rule of forums is font assume to know more than the person your talking about.

Dude I'm probably older than you, I got into Hip Hop music when it first arrived in UK.
I know hip hop. I know what hip hop is.
You have totally contradicted yourself I'm afraid. You've also been a little bit condesending.

Hip hop is not just about the music. It is a culture that was formed from many disperate things.
The DMC is just one of those things.

    Yeah.....something of everything.

Tradional....hybrid.... Individual categories.....but also a leg where they battle other categories.

Will be interesting to watch all that....instead of JUST the tradional.
