Means nothing to me
Means nothing to me
I know some who do and others who don't. I don't think it's indicative of someone knowing or not knowing their stuff, at all. Also, you could probably attribute the "not a lot of older DJs use it" thing to them being around before the term became popular, and are used to calling it by another name.

I like to mark "EDM" tracks in my composer field. I use it to mark those popular producers. Guetta, Zedd, Porter, etc.
That way I can keep it out of my Electro House and Progressive House, Club and Top40 folders.
EDM on forums like these just means the whole genre....on the street it means the type of electogressivewaitforthedropdude tracks.
EDM - Collective term for mainstream, TOP40, chart friendly, pop dance music ala Guetta et al.
Also can be used to describe the last few years of mainstream popularity of such music in the US market place - big labels out to make money, bandwagon jumping, making money, over the top, pre recorded shows, making money, celeb/corporate endorsements, making money, about as far away from the House Music movement of the mid-late 80's as you could possibly get basically... oh did I say, all about making money?
20+ years man & boy, working the platters that matter. D3EP DJ.
no i don't think you did, but that's a good one
The term 'EDM' is not new, its been around for many many years, and personally I would class any type of dance music produced electronically i.e. with synths etc, as EDM, be it Kraftwerk, New Order, Deadmau5, Skrillex, The Prodigy, Chase & Status. The term EDM IMO is much more than just a genre
Traktor Scratch Pro 2.7, MBP 13", iPad 2 & TouchOSC, Reloop NEON, Pioneer DJM750mk2, Mackie d.2, Pioneer CDJ800 x2, Technics SL1210MK2 x2, NI Audio 6 DJ, Dicers,
