Default Overview of Bome Midi Translator Pro

I know DJ Tech Tools Mini Translator was more or less made with Bome's Midi Translator technology, and Stanton DaRouter uses it for its presets.

My post is not a thorough review, but it's enough of an overview to help you decide whether or not to bother with the demo. Hope it helps someone out there! This is an invaluable tool for the Stanton SCS.3 & SCS.1 system, unsupported MIDI controllers, and providing more modifiers to your devices. Be careful though, it is not as simple as mapping MIDI commands to your software. It does support MIDI Learn, however.

Bomes is great, i used to use it alot. I am giving it up in favor of max/msp though which is far more powerful but more expensive and a much much steeper learning curve.

@V-Hoff: you have to remember that Bento is drifting away from Traktor into total Ableton+max bliss. to get over Traktor's MIDI deficiencies there isnt anything better than Bome yet.

    fixed for you

bome's has great support as well; any questions asked on the bomes forums is normally answered by the developer.

to hear bentosan say something has a steep learning curve sticks out in my mere mortal brain...

I LOOVE Bomes. I just think of it as some kinda steroidal super brain behind the scenes. As far as being a mostly MIDI translation oriented program, there is really nothing to compare it to.
It's true that you can overcome Traktor midi deficiencies with it, but what's even better is the way you can use it to tie together a bunch of controllers and applications, so they all work in harmony. IE, buttons on one of my controllers affect the leds, status, modifiers etc, of a different controller, and multiple apps are receiving messages that are specific only to them, all from a single button or knob.

Plus it has a nice format for writing code, and a log where you can retrieve whatever variables are in effect and what their value/status is, at any given time.

I must admit that I wish Bomes had more rules so I wouldn't have to write as many lines of code. If I ever need to write something more complex, I may have to look into Max.

I talked to Florian. The OSX version ate tons more time than they had planned. I am hoping that once they get that done, they will eventually also support a direct programming language without the need to use their "IDE". Especially being able to write a function without having to do the timer 0 trick would be so much nicer.
