Default Sound quality: VCI-300 v. AUdio 4 DJ

    Hi everybody,

I would like to know your opinion about difference between build-in sound card from VCI-300 and stand alone Audio 4 DJ. Currently I'm using NI sound card with Digital Jockey and it is very satisfying (sound not controller).

I'm considering buying VCI-300 to have everything build-in but is this sound card from Vestax is so good like Audio 4 DJ? I heard an opinion that build-in sound cards are quite bad.

Thanks for all answers in advance!

the VCI 300's sound card isn't very good. the audio 4 is much, much punchier (i own the 300 and use a presonus firebox as my soundcard)

    It's a MAYA44 soundcard inside a VCI-300. Without a doubt, the winner is the NI Audio 4.

Thanks guys! It means that I should leave my NI card and invest only in VCI-100.

Though the VCI-300 does have other things going for it - higher resolution (and adjustable tension) jog wheels, tighter hardware/software integration (though only with Serato Itch, which is more basic in many ways than Tracktor, though some could see that "back to basics" approach as a plus...) and no messing about with MIDI assignments (which has driven me mad in the past with other devices... such as the Kontrol DJ I used to own: http://kontrolprodj.com/content/view/3/11/).

I currently own neither Vestax unit, but am starting to lean towards the VCI-300, partly for its simplicity, so that I can get back to what's important, mixing music...

Very valid points as well. I myself wanted to get a VCI-300, I tried one out in a store and had fun with it for sure, I found Itch's interface refreshingly simple compared to the cluster that is Traktor Pro lol.

I just wish that Vestax released a VCI-300 with a more premium sound card, and longer pitch faders. Either way though, it's an awesome all-in-one unit, but in terms of sound quality, I found it to be the "Achilles heel" of the unit.

Can you run it this way in Itch or only Traktor?

sadly you can only run it this way with traktor - which is incredibly frustrating because my ideal combination would be a VCI 300 + VFX 1 running the new itch 2.0 (when it emerges) with the sound coming through a firebox/audiofire 2/audio 4
