Default midi mapping doesn't work at all (vci100)

    hey guys.

we got a vci100 and want to use it with a macbook pro running with 10.5.8.

the vci100 (right out of the box, no firmware update) is recognized in the audio/midi controllpanel and in traktor pro (1.2.6)

i can load the latest mapping from djtechtools.com but it seems that the mapping doesn fit to the controller, i see the midi symbol blinking in traktor if i push a button on the vci100.

    anyone an idea?

    greets, jacob

Are you using the big import button when you load the tsi? Sometimes it takes a couple of imports to get it fully loaded. Did you set the in/out ports to the VCI in controller manager?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If your VCI is not a SE from DJTT, you will find that the labelling is way off if you use a DJTT mapping. Ideally you should use a DJTT overlay and at the same time upgrade the firmware.

What I did while waiting for the overlay was to unscrew the stock "plates" on the front and write the DJTT function above the button/knob (I started with a silver, if yours is black, just put a piece of masking tape and write on that).

To see the knobs and buttons as assigned, just refer to the JPG included in the mapping folder you downloaded or click here.

Also, photojojo's advice applies 100% for getting the TSI to work properly (especially the Port settings!).

Let us know if this helps.

yes, i did use the import button, after trying for a while and serveral times, and then unplugged and plugged the usb cable again, now it finaly works.

i know that the overlay is required, i printed it out. i did know that the infos on the vci are not working with the new mapping.

have to learn about the mapping. one thing that i recognized so far is that the play button doesnt play, but is another cue button... strange... other knobs and buttons are working well as i can say for now.

    thanks!

im having the same problems with the mapping on my vci 100se. running traktor pro on my friends macbook. i import the 3.5.1 mapping and nothing seems to work.

i go to controller-manager and click the import button on the lower left corner. open the folder VCI-100SE3_5_1 folder and select the tsi file VCI-100SE3_5_1(GLITCH-FIX) and click open.

the select categories window pops up and the options that are checked are:
    - hot key setting
    - controller mappings
    - GUI layout
    - effects settings
    - all other preferences and settings

i click ok and the preferences window pops up. the device i select is VCI-100SE - General MIDI (All Ports, All Ports). the in ports and out ports become "all ports" and i leave them as is.

nothing appears in the assignment table.

is there a step that im missing or something that i forgot to do?

i've tried disconnecting the vci and running all the steps again and again nothing changes. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

...i also have the audio 4 dj soundcard plugged in while i do this...

Frank, it looks like your version of Traktor might be out of date. With Traktor open, click the NI or Traktor logo, the About window will pop up, we are at 1.2.6 now.

You can update through Service Center, an app in you NI folder.

You may actually have the latest version on disk, but the icon you use to launch Traktor points to an older version (we've all been there).

Let us know if this helps.
