    Default Ableton APC40 Encoder help.

I finally got my APC40 and I've been busy mapping it. But I've run in to one road block. I'm trying to may the bottom four track control encoders to control clip start position, clip stop position, loop position and loop length. No I can easily assign those through the midi learn functionality. BUT all these functions seem tied to the Global Quantization, but tied in very random fashion. Example: When Global Quant is set to 1 bar. I can very easily set a 32bar loop with encoder #8 that I have assigned to the loop length function. When I set Global Quant to 1/2bar, it now becomes impossible to get to the 32bar loop length. I can set a length of 31,2,0 or 33,0,0 but not a straight 32. The same goes for 4, 8, and 16 bar loops. And this holds true for every global quantization setting except "1 bar." This also effects clip start position, clip stop position and loop position. And adjusting the individual clip quantinzation seems to have to effect. Thanks for the help.

Hi, you are talking about Ableton aren't you?

Did you try to change the grid? Maybe set grid to no grid at all, or widest. Does this influence anything at all?

you should definitely post this in the ableton user forums. you might need to create a complicated m4l patch to adapt the encoder parameters to the current global quantization setting or something like that, but I can't help you with this because I can't even imagine where you're going with it... my workflow is completely different. sorry!
