DIY Arcade Mod - A couple of questions.

Hi guys,

Im planning on modding my VCI 100 SE with arcade buttons (now that Ive found someone who will do the soldering for me!).

Does anyone know where I can download a template for the drilling of the holes for the buttons? And also what sort of places in the UK could do the drilling (could B&Q or somewhere similar do it?) ?

Last question is, could the drilling be done through the overlay? As id rather not remove it if possible!

No template other than the cutting guide with CAD instructions. I just modified my VCI-100SE last week and started off my rightmost hole's left edge on the left edge of the rightmost stock button. The next hole was 1/4" away and the next 1/2" and the other 1/4" again. I didn't want mine to be spaced evenly unlike the TechTools' version. I know it looks daunting when you think about putting drill, file or saw to the cover so good luck!

ps. Of course you can drill through the overlay but you'll end up with the same problem as not having one. That of having some gaps in between the arcade buttons. The gaps are because the arcade buttons do not occupy the same positions as the stock buttons. Also, the edges of your overlay's new holes will not like having aluminium dust trapped in them.

pps. I used a 15/16" size circular template to mark out the holes although I believe the actual size is metric and a tinge smaller. My buttons are nice and tight because I used gaffing tape to cover up the stock button's slots and intentionally left some excess during the cutting so that they'd be pushed into the holes when I inserted the Sanwa buttons.

Its not a major issue, as I can just buy another one, lol just trying to save money!
