    Default Controller without a laptop?

A couple of months ago I was looking for a laptop set-up to replace my CD decks. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I mocked up this design in Photoshop.*There's a single platter for controlling two decks but the main feature is you can play direct from a USB stick so you don't need a laptop. Basically you could play around at home on your laptop, but then just take the USB stick to a party. The single platter makes it a bit more portable too. Anybody know of anything like it around?

I've tried to upload the pic from my iphone but no joy, so here's the URL:

Thanks a lot for the vid. I've never seen that Denon deck before. The single deck/two sound sources is interesting, but portability is the issue.
My ideal controller would be a*cross between an Otus Raw and a VCI-300 with the USB capability of a Pioneer CDJ2000, plus on-board fx! Basically it's a controller, mixer and sound card in one. The search goes on...

i doubt that exists, sadly. however it would be amazing, and i suppose you could get a xone 1d and have a shift ket yo swich between decks a and b

excuse me if that makes no sense since i dont know much about the 1d

as for portability, thats no too much to lug around, its 1 deck and a mixer

Actually something very similar exists :

It tested it and I don't like the touch faders, but that's just me

There's an A-B deck selector switch at the bottom right so you wouldn't need extra kit for that - although extra buttons are always nice!

Thanks a lot for the post about the NextBeat. It's such a great idea but I don't think I'd ever really feel confident with those touch faders either. If there was a platter, a crossfader and a pitchslider it would be much better - although these features might make it harder to prance about with the wi-fi control...

The Next Beat is an interesting concept. The only other device I can think of is the Open Labs dBeat:

That's a sexy controller! But for a 2,999 controller that runs Windows, I'm not to sure. You could get a 17'' MacBookPro and Maschine for roughly the same price. Or a 13'' MacBookPro, Maschine, Audio 8, and a DJTT Vestax-100 for the same price.

I'm not too sure that dBeat's a good bargain :P
