Default Help with Launchpad/Traktor Pro Mapping

    Hi,

I am currently mapping my launchpad to Traktor Scratch Pros effects.

I am mapping the bottom 6 buttons of the columns to specific faders of the fx units such as DRY/WET, FX Param 1, FX Param 2, FX Param 3 (See picture attached launchpadfx). I have mapped the MIDI IN'S fine and they work great but I am struggling to map the MIDI OUT'S so the LED'S correspond to the fader the way they do in ableton. I know it involves the controller number (see the other picture attached) but I don't know what values to put in.

Does anyone made any faders in traktor for volume that has corresponding lcd's like when you use the launchpad in ableton?

    Problem 2 -

I have used the row of 4 buttons above the faders for the corresponding buttons i.e. ON, RST, FX button 1, FX button 2. Does anyone know how to make the LED's flash when these are on?

    Thanks in advance.

sorry im no help on this. im just about to start mapping my launchpad.

Have you used Katapult or Automap to do this or were you able to get the launchpad to send midi signals direct to Traktor?

HEY! I will be more than glad to help! I scoured the entire web looking for a straight forward relevant tutorial on this and found nothing! Insane and very frustrating as I'm sure you know. I just now figured it out two days ago, pardon me but F*@!$ YEEEAH! I was really excited since i worked on it for 3 weeks straight but now I am a proud master of launchpad with traktor i set a fader to work with the beatmasher you see, to work like the midifighter, Props to the MF, but it works exactly like a fader as well. I am assuming you got the values all working correctly to function? All you need is help with the midi out LED mapping? I will work on a tutorial or at least some pictures, it will be way to hard to type out, I'm sure something will get lost in transit. And about the flashing leds for the launchpad in traktor. I will have that under wraps soon hopefully, still working on it.

I'll whip up a quick tsi with the first column mapped to dry/wet fx1 to show you how!

    Give me 10 minutes

Edit: TADA!!!! Use the programmers reference guide from novation's website to change the to your liking. Just remember to keep the first # in the controller range 0 if you want the lights to turn off.

OK i looked at your photo of the out values. For me my fader moved in increments of .125 across the whole range (ending at 1.0). So when i pushed the first button it set the value to .125. but apparently you want it to be zero. so the minimum would be 0.0000, then double click on the maximum ( still on the first midi out) and type in .124, (if you want the next midi in to set the fader to .125). So basically for each midi out set the minimum range to what the midi in is set to, then set midi out max range to JUST below what the next midi in button is set to. then just choose what color you want it to be set at for when that part of the fader is engaged(midi range min) and what color you want it to return to once the fader moves on to the next value ( midi range max.). P.S the way this would work is that it would be more of a dot fader led output instead of a bar graph fader output such as what happens in live. I haven't ever wanted it to work like the faders in live, personally i don't ever use the launchpad as a fader per se, its not a good "smooth" fader controller obviously because it can only send increments of 1/8 so its not far enough a range to make it smooth. It works better for beatmasher and things of the sort that don't need to be smooth, in my opinion. I really hope I explained that well enough. Like i said i am prepared to make a video if needed.

Can you give me more details about what didn't work? FX Unit 1 needs to be set to single, not chained... Check that first. Don't use the big import button, and try importing it again. I deleted it, downloaded it from here, and re-imported it and everything worked for me.

Edit: also, since OP is using 6 of the pads instead of 8 i used increments of .2 with the first as .000

For the flashing lights try using the beatphase monitor and a modifier toggle.... I'll test that out tomorrow if I remember

Edit 2: I made this in TSP2... Don't know how backwards compatible it is

Oh yeah i had it in chain, no matter i wasn't the one that needed to know how to make this mapping, i already know how. But what i don't know is how to make a modifier button be a toggle button. I am using a "jerry rig" method right now. Specifically i have a shift button(M8) and a page 2 modifier that turns to page two on my launchpad(M1) and I set M1 to only work when the shift (M8) is engaged. So I hold down M8 press M1 let go of M8 then let go of M1 after, (in that exact order) and that locks M1(my second page) in place. Then i do the reverse to go back to page one. Would you know of a simpler way to do this?

Set m1 to 1 condition m1=0 on the same button dom1=0 condition m1=1
