    Default Headphone tips

    Hey guys,

I am currently on the lookout for some fresh gear and I wanted to ask you guys about headphones. I'm looking for something in the $100-$200 price range (can go a little over) that would double as headphones for when I play gigs and when I work on remixes/bootlegs etc in Ableton.

Would the Aiaiai TMA-1s do the trick? Ultimately I want "all-in-one" headphones. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I heard the TMA-1's are brilliant headphones. But can anybody back it up due to I have never tried them before..

It depends do you want headphone cups that lie on your ears or over this could take the likes of the Sennheiser HD25's out of the equation.

I really don't have any preference when it comes to the earcups. I want something that will (hopefully) last for a while

That keeps your options open because some people prefer one or the other. If you want something that will last you a while don't invest in the HDJ1000's (Im a Pioneer fanboy and even i hate the shocking build quality on them).

I use Sennheiser HD25's and Technics RP-DJ1210's and I would highly recommend the Technnics for DJ'n but i enjoy using the Senns for both situations (production and DJ'n). Also with the Sennheiser's as you probably already know every part is replaceable so can be used for many many many years.

But there are many other options out there!

    Sennheiser HD 25
    TMA-1
    HDJ 500

Think those are the "main" headphones everyone talks about currently, just go check them out

Got a pair from Father Christmas (tma-1's I mean). Use QC15's for listening and MDR700 buds.
Genre is tech/deep house and minimal. WAV and Apple Lossless formats. I can ONLY say good things. Nevermind that they sexy as hell (hate the current blingy look). Full soundstage, chuggy at the bottom end, crisp at the top end. Only gripe is the foam cups (an option - also a leather cup supplied). Dig these 'cans big time!

I concur. A bit late, but the TMA-01's are the best headset I've worn.

It really all depends on how you use the cans for performances. . .I usually have one cup off to listen to monitors and cue up everything together. . I'm a hip-hop dj, so it's what I'm so used to. I haven't tried Aiaiai TMA-1 yet, but I'm not sure how well they'd stick to my head when I'm using cans the way I am. Everyone has their issues with the Sony MDR V700, but I've had mine for over 5 years, and I have not had 1 problem with em. . .except for replacing the earpads (pain in the arse!)

I'm just tossing more options out there for ya that I'm a lil more familiar with:
The Pioneer HDJ-2000 are awesome cans (outta yer price range though).
Sony MDR-7509HD are real nice. I use these for my own studio, and have done gigs with em as well. ($20 over yer budget)
Shure SRH750DJ are pretty decent, but the question for me is isolation for studio use and logevity. (around $150).

Personally, I'd stay away from the Arial-7 (sound quality is so-so. Basically Sony MDR V700 knockoffs in different colors), Monster Beats (great, lound, & OVERPRICED!), and Skullcandy (sound quality SUCKS!).

Like most everyone said. . .It is all up to you and what your comfortable with.
