    Default VST Help.

    Hey there,
I'm somewhat new to Ableton and I was wondering if anybody had links to some good tutorials on how to correctly set up and use VST plug-ins. I'm operating on OSX. Most of the tutorials I've found on youtube don't get deep enough into the subject for me.
    Thanks!

Drag the plug ins into your component (au) or vst folders to install them. They're located in the plug in folder (in the audio folder in your library)

To use the plug ins, click on the plug icon on the browser menu on the left of the screen. Then drag the plug ins into your project.

Default Still not working for me.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but they're still not showing up. I downloaded the .dmg and opened that and the install it came with automatically installed the VST in the destination you said. Ableton isn't seeing it though. When I click the plug icon it is only showing A list of AU effects under the heading Apple.

Open up the preferences dialog, and click on the 'File Folder' tab. Make sure box that says "Use VST custom folder" is on. Then where it says 'VST custom folder' click browse. I made a folder where I always have my VST's installed. I suggest you do the same (or not, whatever floats your boat).

    Hope that helps.

(Note this is just for .vst plug-ins)
