Default Maschine - production kit and a controller?

    Hi everybody,

I'm tired of my Digital Jockey 2 (too often buttons are braking down) and I'd like to move to something else. At the beginning I was thinking about portable X1 which would satisfy all my basic needs during the DJ set. But after that I started to think about Maschine, because how long you can DJ without making something by yourself? My question is - how good controller is the Maschine for Traktor Pro (T2)? And how good production kit it's?

I watched most of the YouTube videos about the Maschine but I'd like to get some information from the users who are not payed by NI

Thanks in advance for any advises and hints!

It'll work as long as you don't mind using knobs instead of faders.

There's a Maschine .tsi you can download from dubspot.com made by DJ Endo. If you've looked around on YouTube you probably saw the tutorial videos about it. It actually works pretty well.

Maschine is pretty nice for production too. I find it to be very intuitive.if you have SoundFlower for Mac or Jack for Windows you can sample anything you want from your computer (YouTube, iTunes, streamig audio, porn, etc...) and it's super easy. Maschine also comes with like 16,000 sounds and a lot of them are really good. It's a great deal for $600.

photojojo, Pneumaric thanks for the answers. Actually you can find brand new Maschine in some of the shops even cheaper than 600$ so now I need really to think about this purchase

Do you have a MIDI keyboard PeteBoy? If so, whenever you assign a sound to a pad the software will auto-ma the sound to he keyboard. It's pretty nice and makes melodies much easier to make if you know your way around the black&whites.

    Default Behringer...really!!!

If you love knobs, I would invest in Behringer's BCR 1000 midi controller. It was used by Daft Punk during the Alive 2007 tour. Another combination that I love is using two X1s and one Maschine.

Don't want the poor guy to be hunting the interwebs for hours after a non-existent controller

Pneumaric - I've a keyboard so it could be really good combo if you say so
Da Kool Kat - I was thinking about this kind of combination Maschine + X1, and I see that it's quite popular solution.
fullenglishpint - thanks for the correction I'll check it out.

Now I'm really considering a Native set up Maschine + X1. For some small gigs I can use portable X1 plus club mixer, but when I'll get to know better my pads Maschine could be an interesting experience on the stage and in homemade amateur studio.
