yup, click the casette icon below FX unit 2 to make the recorder visible.
you should also do a sound test before you actually start getting into the groove and do a great mix but then find out that the volume was to low or high etc, record a few mins then check and recheck the gain levels until you get the volume just right, you want to leave your self head room for the big base tracks but you also dont want the volume to low overall...

It doesnt show im getting any sound. theyre no blue lines and no sound when i replay my recording... im using the vci's mixer if thats important
under recording i have it set to external, if its set to internal i cant use the vci's mixer. but if its set to internal i get signal.
Set both to internal mate.
