    Default LPD8 Purchase

So... today I want to go and pick up an LPD8.

I want it so that I can have some different controls over a third deck. It feels like I'll have more room to grow for mash ups and what not and definitely expand myself on some cue point juggling and maybe something different in a "live" scenario.

What I'm confused over is the LPD8 editor and mapping it for use in Traktor Pro...

What needs to be done in the editor so that it can be used with however I want to map in TPro?

I've seen people uploading their LPD8 editor screen shots & settings and whatnot and reading that you have to go change your LPD8 to all these settings in the editor before uploading the .tsi and I'm curious as to how that effects the LPD8 in Traktor... Is it totally necessary or can I midi learn all my functions?

The LPD8 can be mapped twice over or four times over?

I'm looking for cue points on one layer. (HotCues 1 - 6, ArmyofMe's super knob, shift button, echo out button.)
Loop controls + transports on a second layer. (Drop 8 count loops, out of loop, loop half, loop x2, super button, lfo reset...)
Not sure what else i want to use.

Anything that you guys would recommend?

I'm still planning out how to have it exactly set-up. Just needing someone to clarify this for me!

    Happy Monday!

The default settings for the LPD8 are duplicated on some scenes so if you map something on say pad 4 scene 1 then pad 2 scene 3 may also have that same key # and also the same mapped function. It's an easy thing to fix. Just when you get it open the LPD8 editor and change the values around so that you don't have any duplicates. If your only going to use the first scene then you don't have to do any thing. But if you want to use more than one scene then I would suggest changing it.

So I just got my LPD8, thing looks sweet, lol.

Before I start mapping it in Traktor, I've gotta open up the editor and change EVERY? value so that there are no duplicates?

Do the values have any significance or can I go from 1, 2, 3, 4 etc...

i fully mapped the first two programs/scenes to Traktor's four FX banks, program three's pads to toggle the active FX banks on both decks, and program four's pots to control both decks' filter/key/gain. somewhat whacky map, i know, but i didn't experience any conflicts or duplicates. hmm. . .

    Anybody else?

Before I begin mapping my controller in Traktor - all notes and CC's and values / whateva have to be totally different in the editor? No duplicates?

Once I've changed my values does the LPD8 editor have any importance anymore or do I use Traktor solely to map mu controller.

Wanting hot cue functions, toggle play, super knobs, super buttons on one "Program."

On another "program" probably looping controls or whatever.

How do I take advantage of the 4 programs and be able to map them all? How does Traktor recognize which program the controller is in? This is all so confusing to me. lol.

i'll answer your questions in a numbered order:

    1. yes all cc's and values should be different to avoid conflicts.
    2. no duplicates.
    3. LPD editor software has no importance after setting up the "cc's and values." i've never had to use it.
    4. take advantage of all four programs by pressing program, and then whatever program you want on pads 1-4.
    5. map them all with "learn."
    6. because program 1, pad 1 should send a different signal than program 2, pad 1 and program 3, pad 1 (and program 4, pad 1, etc. etc.), Traktor recognizes each of these seperate and independent signals, and assigns them accordingly.

    keep asking. . .

Right on brother! Thanks so much! I'm off work in the next 5 hours - so I'm gonna be going through this today and beginning to map a few things.

I will be back here later to let you know how it goes.

One more quick question: While I'm mapping all of program 1... do I need to press program one each time I map a new command or it'll stay mapping program 1 until i press program 2, etc?

    Thanks!

Program button + corresponding Pad = entering new program modes (1 through 4)?

Prog Chng button is the same thing? Prog Chng button switches between Pad mode and CC mode? Clarification please!

And tell me if I understand this incorrectly, but each of the four Programs can be mapped twice, once for Pad mode and once for CC mode?
