    Question Beginner S4 Help

Hi! I'm new to the DJ world and just picked up an S4. I've had it a couple weeks and have been loving it.

Today I ran into something strange, my cross-fader no longer seems to working. It's like it's permanently set in the middle position. It was working fine last time. All other controls seem to be working fine.

I tried recalibrating, and the software (Traktor Pro 2) said it recalibrated correctly. I displayed the fader in the interface, and the position shown on the screen is correct in relation to the S4's fader.

I think it must be something extremely simple, like I accidently turned it off when playing with the shift key and other buttons, but I don't know how I did it. I have not messed around with remapping the controls or anything like that.

I really hope this is something simple and not a hardware problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Default Shift + fx

Ok my english is not the best but i'll try to help you out

I had this same issue on beggin

    Try that

SHIFT + FX 1 (on channels A and C) under the gain knob
SHIFT + FX 2 (on channels B and D) under the gain knob

you need to see the lights turned it on below the channel's Volume Faders

    light on "<" (channels A/C)
    light on ">" (channels B/D)

    Hope that helped you.

Are the letters on each side of the crossfader lit up? If not do what Anderson said. You can also mouse click the letters to activate the channels.

I've got another simple S4 question. I have two tracks synced, one has a BPM of 127, and the other one is sped up to 127 from 108. After cross fading to the second track, I want to slow it down to it's original BPM.

When I slightly nudge the Tempo fader, it shoots from 127 to about 109 instantly. I've had no problems doing this with the Tempo fader when the tracks BPMs are a lot closer, but it seems I can't gradually slow this one down. I've played around with the Offset arrow buttons above the Tempo fader and get the same result. I've messed around with the Transport Preferences but I'm not sure I'm on the right track.

Any ideas/tips? Is there some preference I need to set?

Thanks, your help is greatly appreciated!

Once you sync both songs to a BPM. Using the tempo is difficult to find the original BPM of the song. Lets say you have one song at 140 bpm and another at 137.29 bpm, if you hit sync both songs go to 140 bpm. If you try adjusting tempo its Its nearly impossible to get to 137.29 lol. I've tried multiple times on different tracks.

If you want to keep the original bpm. Then don't hit sync. Just cue it in when you want that beat to drop. Thats how I've been teaching myself. I also just got a traktor but i have the traktor s2 with traktor pro 2. Less knobs but still awesome controller & fun program been up using it the pass 3 days playing around

    Enjoy

Thanks, but maybe I need to rephrase my question. Why does sometimes nudging the Tempo fader jump 20 BPM, where most other times it moves less than 1 BPM? There must be some setting I'm missing...

The only time this is happening is in the situation I described. All other times (with or without sync) it is working as I expect it to.

    Thanks in advance!

You could try putting the tempo fader in relative mode, then it will adjust from where it is rather than jumping absolute. I think that will solve it. Oh and my s2 mapping has micro tempo adjust .01 a turn, you can get spot on bpm now Shameless plug, sorry

Hijacking the thread for a noobie question as well - If I have both decks set on sync and load a song, the song loads and is playing automatically... should I want this? I think I might like it better if I could load the deck up stopped, and then have it start playing when I want.

    Thoughts?
