Default Dub Siren Vs The S4

    Hello everyone and Happy Easter.

My first post and i must say DJTT has been a blessing of a site since i discovered it 2 years ago and with the best and understandable tutorial videos i've come across.

Anyways, i recently upgraded to Traktor Pro 2 and temptation getting the better of me with a mastercard i purchased a S4 last week, prior to using one of those black VCI-100's.

Ok, i like the S4 and it's a lot more convenient to using mouse/drop down menus. Ok, so now i got a built in soundcard and all that. I was a wondering how would i import my iphone4 to the proceedings. I'm a total noob technophobe at the best of times.

I dj a lot of reggae and would love to link up the 'Dub Siren Pro' app to my S4/Pro 2 but haven't the foggiest on what to do. So in basic simplified english could someone explain on what i would need to do. I use a 13" Macbook Pro.

As Princess Leia once said "Help me DJ Tech Tools, you're my only hope" (or something to that effect. It was a long time ago).

I'm assuming that the app outputs via the headphone jack... So, head over to Radioshack and get a 1/8" headphone jack to RCA stereo chord. Hook that up to your S4, in your software go to the input/output section and make sure the input is setup... Go to the decks and change deck C or D to a live input deck and make sure the right input is selected. Writing this from my iPhone, so hopefully it makes sense.

If problems persist, are you on Traktor Pro 2 or the S4 software?

that or record the sounds of the app beforehand, put em together in a file and start juggeling

Sample decks would be more ideal, but do this ^^^. Audacity should work for recording the sounds.

    thanks for replies.

Like i said, total noob here. Wasn't sure which input to plug it into so i tried all 3. I have my mac connected to a midi sound system and the S4 not directly plugged into an amp. So my S4 audio preference names the speaker system and not 'Traktor S4'.

I'm using the Pro 2 software.

I got a cable already but the end sockets are Black/Red (does this make any difference?)

When i go to 'Input Routing' in preferences, all the options state 'Not Connected' and can't be changed.

I switch to deck C & D individually. No success. I really don't want to sample the siren in the decks as it goes against everything i like it for, such as pitch bending and going all wonky in real time as well as multiple sfx banks on hand. (11 banks, 16 pre-programmed pads in each). I used to have a circuit bent noise box but gave it to a friend when i got this app.

So which input on the back would i need, what switch settings etc?

    Does this make sense.

Plug it into Deck C and switch it to line on the back of the S4 and live input by clicking on the deck letter.

no, its alright. i got it now via headphones and chose 'TS4' in audio preferences but was wondering if there was any way i could run it without using my headphones? Which btw i thought were broken, obviously not. Paid a lot of money for those.

    Phew... thanks for input everyone

    Hi all, first post here.

Now, I don't know if this is strictly legal or not, it might be for personal use since you bought the app, it might not be, but it's actually very easy to get all the samples from the dub Siren Pro App:
    - in itunes right (ctrl) click on the app and choose: "show in finder"
    - make a copy of this file on, for example, your desktop
    - again, right (ctrl) click on the file and choose "open with", "archive helper"
    - you now get a folder with the name "DubSirenPro 1.3"
    - in the folder payload, right (ctrl) click on "Dub Siren Pro" and choose "show package contents"
    - in there you'll find a file called "data.zip", copy this to your desktop and extract.

You'll now have all the sound bank samples in folders, unfortunately the file names are not very helpful.

Oh, all the quoted OSX texts above may be slightly wrong, because my OSX is not in English.

    Bye now
