    Default S4 Fader Malfunction

The far left fader suddenly stopped working. When a track is playing, I see the lights indicating level, but when I push the fader up no sound comes on at all, or it cuts in and out for fractions of a second. When I use the internal mixer, I can bring in the track just fine. However, as soon as I touch the fader again, it cuts to 0 and the volume goes off. I have calibrated the faders twice now, no luck.
Here's a video of the problem:

Have you tried reseting the S4 in Traktor? Very strange issue, I hope you can solve it quickly.

Try to calibrate the faders in preferences. If that doesn't work you can try blowing them out with canned. failing either of those I'm afraid you'll probably need to contact NI.

also try do create a user mapping of any volume fader and then hit "learn" and move the fader. Maybe you can just map it? If it doesn't map --- then the fader is not sending a midi signals.

It would just be a work around but if it does work, you'll be back up and running

    Default Ughhhh.. no luck

    Thanks everyone
I have re-calibrated the faders many times now.
I have reset the Kontrol S4 in TP2
    I blew out the channel w/ CO2
I tried mapping the fader and clicked learn, but nothing seemed to change.

Although, after all this, now when I put the level up to 3/4 it will actually stay at full volume, so the channel is somewhat usable, but I would have to keep the screen on mixer mode to make sure it's all the way up. This sucks though, I like nice long waveforms

NI responded asking if I had re-calibrated the faders, I wonder if they even read my whole ticket lol. I'll post any solutions they come up with in case this happens to someone else...

    Thanks again

yeah if you can't remap it, sounds like there is something wrong with the fader.

Last ditch effert I would unistall TP2 and reinstall it and try again.

If not send it to get serviced by NI.

Before you go crazy, i noticed something today that may be the casue of your problems ..

    I'm a button pusher, i don't read the manual ... hence I have this tale ...

Did you know that shift and the FX select button 1 on each channel MUTES the channel ..

check to see if you have done this by selecting the deck and looking to see the ON AIR lit up. If it's not try SHIFT + FX1 on the channel.

might not be the answer to a broken fader, but certainly if you've simply "just lost a fader" it's worth a look

and if i'd actually read the manual or opened my eyes I would have seen that it sets the crossfader assignment to either side or no crossfader ...
