    Default UK DIY Midi Parts

So im itching to start building my own midi controllers.

Something fairly simple, like a midifighter ish.

So popped into local maplins store in Camden and they had this velleman k8055 on the shelf for £30... I just wanted some advice whether or not this is first of all the right thing to use to get started, and secondly if it is any good and has the right connections. (complete noooob here)

and it even has an iphone app to test it: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/k8055...87435582?mt=8/

Read some reviews and someone else suggested an arduino uno ... which is also available in UK

So if theres any other UK DIY guys out there with some tips for parts, boards, books, tutorials etc i would greatly appreciate the help! THanks

The K8055 interface board has 5 digital input channels and 8 digital output channels. In addition, there are two analogue inputs and two analogue outputs with 8 bit resolution. The number of inputs/outputs can be further expanded by connecting more (up to a maximum of four) cards to the PC's USB connectors. All communication routines are contained in a Dynamic Link Library (DLL). You may write custom Windows (98SE, 2000, Me, XP) applications in Delphi, Visual Basic, C++ Builder or any other 32-bit Windows application development tool that supports calls to a DLL.
Seems to have limited I/O? Might be better off with an Arduino as you'll probably get better support. I like the iPhone support though
