Default Output volume, is it quite low?

Played my S4 out first time last night.
It was great, but I found the output a bit quiet. I play the same bar every Friday so I know the setup there, I used to use my DJM400 and there was enough boost to push the bar's main limiter into action, but last night I was struggling to get the volume up without running into the red.
I had Traktor's limiter on and started out with the master (software) set to -5.00 like I always do, but ended with that up on 0dB and the hardware master on max

    Anyone else had this problem?

What problem? Different gear outputs at different volumes.

Sounds like you got it to a suitable volume eventually. That's what AMPLIFIERS are for.

[EDIT: This post sounds like I'm having a dig - I'm not. But, your original post is like a painter complaining that he has no green paint when he's got a pot of blue and yellow paint at hand. )

That did sound a bit shirty at first!

Anyway, the problem (for me) is that i only just got it to a decent level when everything was maxed. If I ever needed to play any louder it would be hard. The amps in some bars are hidden away and even locked so that you can't turn them up past a certain point for noise pollution reasons.

I find it odd that the output is that much lower than on a DJM.

i find it to be the exact opposite from what your finding, but i always have the s4 limiter turned off, my software volume tends to be around -10 and the s4 main hardware volume tends to be only 15% - 20% turned up while plugged into house mixer, i guess the limiter been off is partly the reason, but also every sound system is set up different so just tweek some more, i assume all the house mixer/amp volumes were as they normally word be ?

I'm actually experiencing similar results (too quiet). It gets to a decent level but when I max out, it's slightly quieter than sets I've heard at the same location on a different night. I've experimented with and without the limiter, but I think it just comes down to what the house is using.
