    Exclamation Studio Monitors + S4?

Alright so I just bought two KRK Rokit 5's. I was under the impression that with studio monitors I would need a soundcard/monitor management type hardware thing to be able to use them. Well I called up a few places (Guitar Center and Sweetwater) and they said that I can use my Traktor Kontrol S4 as my soundcard and route it directly though there.

Now, I can see how this could potentially work if I was using this for solely DJing, but I would like to listen to music through the monitors as well and it would be a serious pain to route the computer through the live input in the S4 as well just to be able to hear a song.

What can/should I do? I feel like this just causes confusion.

By keeping the S4 plugged in without traktor running, setting your default soundcard in your computers settings to the S4. Now your music will play through the s4. You will not have any other controls available on the s4 other than main volume. Also you can not use the headphone socket on the S4 only on the computer which would reqiure changing back to the computers souncard.

I have my S4 set up as my default soundcard and get audio through the headphones not the main.

You mean that you can listen to say iTunes it comes through the S4 sound card and out your speakers, but then if you fancy just listen in your headphone you plug into the S4 jack and listen that way rather than plugging into the computer and changing back to the default sound card?
