EQ isn’t 100% cut - fix?

Hello,

For some odd reason (maybe me fiddling with the config settings), my EQs in the S4 aren't 100% cut when they're turned all the way to the left. I've recalibrated them just to be safe. When the EQ knobs are all the the left, and I open the respective channel fader, audio "leaks" since the EQ isn't 100% cut.

Is this a configurable setting, or working as designed?

This is configurable, and pretty easily done

Go to Preferences > Mixer tab > EQ Type and select the one you want from the drop-down list.

Classis is the Traktor-style EQ.
P600 is the Pioneer DJM600. No kill-type there.
NUO is Ecler NUO type EQ. Kill-type there.
Xone is obviously the A&H Xone. This gives you four knobs to turn, Low, mid-low, mid hi and high.

And you have two filter types. Ladder is the Pioneer style, Xone is a less aggressive type of filter.

Not using the controller, but the software only, I still hear sounds when volume fader is 100% up and all EQ knobs are to the left.

Why aren't you using the controller? You really should update to T2 anyway since it's free and the EQ's sound better.

I am using TP2, and the controller... Sorry for not being clear... I meant I tested it on my macbook pro w/ o the controller just to see if the changes Audeo suggested made sense. Since the only thing the controller does is control the software, does it make a difference I have it plugged in or not for testing config settings?

Im not getting kill on any of my EQs, if you set them all fully left and switch between the EQ types you can hear the difference, but they all let through a bit. Not a problem for me though.

I tested each of the EQ's and the XONE seems to have the best kill ratio. Not sure its 100% but its pretty close.

Here's how I tested.

Hit the low, mid and high kill light in the GUI (little blue dot next to the knob).

Now play a track and note how much sound is getting through the mixer.

Next change your mixer type and go through each type taking note of the sound levels.

When you finally change to XONE you will need to kill the sub low again since the other mixer emulations types only have high, mid and low.

Ultimately I ended up with the XONE type using all 4 knobs (there are many threads on this) and it seems to do the best job of them all when killing frequencies.
