Hercules DJ Console MK4 Pros/Cons.
Pros.
I liked the fact that you can map the keys, customizing the controls to your own preferences. it’s small, light and very portable. The audio connections are great, with 4 inputs for external equipment such as turntables (vinyl or CD), samplers, iPod, etc. as well as RCA outs for both monitors etc. The sound quality is excellent. The Hercules MK4 is a great started DJ system or for the portable DJ. For roughly $180 you are buying a good piece of machinery but remember, you get what you pay for.
Cons.
One of the complaints I found was that the MK4 comes with Virtual DJ LE edition, which I highly recommend upgrading to the Pro edition , Although, it can also easily be used with software such as Traktor , with MIDI mappings downloadable from the website.
The functionality is somewhat limited by the absence of kill switches and sample buttons. The rotary pitch control can be somewhat mind numbing at times. But as I said in the Pros section “you get what you pay for”
In conclusion, if you’re a starter DJ with a budget of under $200 than this is the product to buy. With it coming with virtual DJ I highly recommend upgrading to the pro so you can add your own samples.
