Quick S2 question

Hey everyone,

does anyone know if the S2 can be used with just bus power? I tried searching here and on NI.com but couldnt quite find the answer.

Im looking for a controller that is just bus powered so I can get to my gig, set it up above the openers cdjs/1200s, plug in a play. I thought about twitch but after a few tries on it I realized it wasnt for me. I love my S4 but I think the S2 would be a good option (assuming it can be run on just bus power).

"USB BUS POWER VS. POWER ADAPTER

Just as with the S4, the S2 comes with an AC Adapter with a set of international plugs. AC power, however, is optional. You can run the S2 off of a fully powered USB 2.0 port. If you go that route, the LEDs dim down to what I consider a nearly unusable level, unless in darkness, and the headphone level drops slightly.

On the plus side, when I pulled the power cord out during use, the main audio output did not cut out at all, as it did for a couple of seconds with the S4. I could also hotplug the AC cord right back in with no disruption. This means the USB cable is your life line, and the robust USB port holds the cable stubbornly in place, much more strongly than your average printer."

ahhh. lol cool thanks for the reply. Now is there a way to get more power out of your bus so the LEDS can light up better?

Depends on your OS. On Windows, I know you can increase the polling rate. I'm not sure how that translates to power output, though. On OSX, I have no idea - I don't tweak my Mac much.

I believe a USB port is rated at 5V 500ma max. The issue with the s4 and s2 is that when plugged in to an outlet they are running on I think something like 9v. There is no way to easily change a usb port voltage to higher than 5v, otherwise it can no longer be called a usb port. I think you would bascially need a device that changed 5vdc to 5v ac then also had a step up x-former toget you to around 9v ac then you need to convert that back to 9v DC. Im no expert so someone please correct me if I'm wrong

It's a pretty weak light without the adapter plugged in.
