Default Advice for a vinyl head moving to a vci-100

Hi- Ive had a vci 100 for ages and never used it. Just been using my 1200's.So its at present in its original factory state. I want to start using it and need a little advice what to do.

From what I gather from reading the forum, I need to:

1- Update unit to latest firmware revison with the chip.

2- Which DJ software should I be using? Which version of Traktor"?

    Anything else i am missing?

BTW i will be using a mac with leapard Os on it.

Sorry in advance for anything stupid I ask.
    Thanks

No stupidity here, you're right to recap.

IF you want to use the latest mapping, which works on the latest version of traktor, which works on leopard...
Yes you do need to upgrade to 1.4 firmware with the kit, which necessitates a windows computer (the step by step guide on how to do this is somewhere on this site).
Then Traktor 2 is recommended with the latest mapping (v4.1) for the VCI, although you can use the previous Traktor with the v3.6.4 mapping (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I'd advise you to upgrade your VCI-100 firmware in all cases, cuz you won't regret it and from there you can still choose where you wanna go with your software/mapping.

    Hope I helped
