Saw the tv series but havent read the books. I already have too much to read.

The beauty of the books, beyond George Really Rad Martin's writing (which is phenomenal) is that they are great books to re-read... From the prophecies (house of the undying, bran's dreams) to the unbelievable chapters, Tower of Joy, the aforementioned house of the undying, the battle of the blackwater, red wedding...they have so much stuff that I didn't catch the first time through the series (I started when a storm of swords came out) and before each book came out I re read the series and kept on getting more and more stuff out of them on the subsequent readings. And I know Martin said jon's parentage is more complex than R+L = J but really he just painted himself into a corner in my opinion.... Discuss at length...

The first season of the show has ended over here a few days ago. I liked it a lot, even though it got often way too silly in terms of titilation (Seriously HBO. Grow up! And that comes from someone who usually loves minutes long lesbian sexscenes!) and by the end of it already three of my favourite characters were dead. I love the cast, though. Pretty much every time they lose one great actor, they get one or two new ones. (Charles Dance!!! And how come that nobody told me that Sibel Kekilli is in this?")

I didn't read the books, but watched the tv show which was awesome (but then again, it's HBO how should it be anything less?).
