This is the start of my kit....
This is a Mac Book Pro, with Hercules Steel.
the reason i started this way was i had so many songs on my laptop i thought i would be stupid to start with vinyl.
Instantly though i found it frustrating to not be able to hear the next track. soooo.....
...(After quite a few months) I bought the Hercules RMX! this had a sound card on it so i could hear the next song without the fader being up or without it being played through the speakers! also i bought a pair of Skull candy headphones at the BPM Show in Birmingham.
And errrr a pretty light thingy too! haha (Not at BPM!)
The programme i was using for the two hercules controllers was Virtual DJ. i thought the programme was a very good starting point for begginners, but i wanted more out of the software, so i upgraded to the Pro version. again very good, but i couldnt help thinking there was something better out there to find!!
After a while, and probably influenced by the BPM Show, i wanted some speakers. the ones i had were good for my small bedroom but not for house parties where i really wanted to piss off the next country, never mind neighbours!
Now THESE bad boys were previously owned by a friend, and i would regularly play on them and learn as much as i could from him! one day he wanted to upgrade (CDJ/DJM 800s), so who was i not to pass up on that offer. and plus he only wanted £330 for the lot, including flight case. so of course i practically snapped his hand off for them!
now after getting this new LUSH kit, i wanted to see what software was avaliable for it.
i had been running VDJ on them but i again went to the BPM show where they were selling Traktor Pro for a bloody steal! so who was i to say no..?! as well as that, the Novation Dicers were just out, again with a discount, so i purchased a couple of those too!
I use the RED for Cue points
I use the ORANGE For Effects
I use the GREEN for Triggering Samplers/A capellas
Traktor made my day and i loved it! the dicers too are brill, as i love to chop aound with cue points and effects and these Dicers handle them flawlessly.
The Pioneer HDJ 500 were a new addition when they came out, as the Skull candy were not really all that suitable for DJing... the Pioneers were so much better when it came to sound quality and feel.
Yeah, maybe i am a Pioneer whore! but i love the kit and think it looks the business too! i havnt gotton on with any other mixers as well as i have with these. also goes with the CDJs too.
