Default Firmware update for ns6 to 4trak possible?

Hey djtt the 4trak controller looks amazing, just like the ns6 it was actually just what i wanted when i bought the ns6 because of the traktor support. But i have heard that the 4trak controller is actually the same as the ns6 with a different firmware? wouldn't it be possible to update ns6s firmware to the 4trak firmware so we ns6 users can run traktor probably? like djtt did with the vci-100(firmware update). I mean.. if it's the same peace of hardware(the ns6 and 4trak), is it fair that we should buy the hardware again just to get the new firmware update? just to get it work well with traktor?
    love:*

Believe me, I don't underestimate power of geek; i'm an engineer and do a lot of reverse engineering.

I just don't think this is a worthy thing to do in this specific case.

curious why not? they openly said the 4TRAK is a copy of the NS6 + an effects add on.

its gotta be identical under the hood with a bit of different screen printing on top... i mean come on...look at it!

This unit haven't be popular that much, to me it doesn't worth it. But for some, like an actual user, that may worth it. If someone have time to waste or look for a challenge do it, but I doubt they'll be able to read their firmware at all... unless Numark are stupid enough to not have protect the firmware in the "microcontroller".

I bet that it's going to be very hard, if not impossible, to reverse engineer it. Both the NS6 and 4Trak have tie-ins to software licensing - NS6 nets some cash for Serato, and 4Trak for NI, as it comes with a tailored Traktor version. For this reason alone, the parts of the firmware containing the identification as either NS6 or 4Trak will be heavily encrypted.
