Default DNS 3700 and time code

Last night was the first night I have ever djed using these decks and cd timecode and I can honestly say that is was the most disappointing experience I've ever had coming from technique 1200s and tcv's. I was real excited to try these out too, so I had no negative bias going into it.

Scratch response was sub par, you can't physically nudge or retard the moving platter because it isn't accurate enough which meant I was riding the pitch fader the whole night.

Using cd timecode in general sucks. There seems to be a stupid problem where back cuing at the first downbeat doesn't work well because of the way the tc tracks are set up.

Just all in all - it was frustrating. I never use cdj's so I didn't realize there were pitch bend buttons. Still rocked it out, but I think I'll stick with my techs.

There is something about the tactile response of physically retarding and nudging a record which simply can't be replicated by cdj's.

The 3700 now has a Hybrid mode to where you do not need to use a timecode CD. I found this to be way better and more accurate emulation of of vinyl response. The pulse rate of the platter can also be adjusted on that deck. I typically use Hybrid Mode with the 3700 when using Traktor or SSL.

I would give it another shot. Sound like the 3700 was not set up properly. Provided the 3700 has the upgraded firmware, Hybrid mode is the way to go if you are using it as a DVS.

Dnld that PDF I linked. It shows you how to set up hybrid mode and also the pulse on the platter. You can make it as sensitive as you want it. Would help you out the next to time you play on 3700's

Also video was using it with scratch live, the second setting on the hybrid mode is for Traktor. You just need to go into the menu to select it. The default is for Scratch Live though just like its said on the video.

gotcha. Maybe I will like them better! I kind of want to get serato but the switching costs are prohibitive right now.
