    Default S2 or XONE 42

    Hi,

    new NI S2 (400€) vs. used XONE 42 (400€)

    I already have kontrol x1.
I mainly use 2 decks, bedroom dj.
I can sell xone anytime, price of S2 will fall...

    What would you take?

do you have a 4 stereo chanel sound card? if so xone 42.
also i suppose depends on the music you play though and if you want to practice beatmatching with jogwheels.
It's not the gear. It's how you use it.
limitations are the source of creativity.
If you don't practice you don't want it.

The k2 wouldn't be a very good addition to the xone:42 if your thinking about using the soundcard in the k2. The k2 only has a 4 channel soundcard, 2 phono outputs and a 3.5mm jack, designed more for internal mixing.

audio 2 is a 2 stereo channel sound card, so good for either mixing externally on 2 channel mixer or internally for master ouptut and cuing(headphone) output.

what are you using for a mixer?

    - If you are to get the Xone 42 with your current setup (as judged from your signature) you would need an external soundcard to deliver the sound from your computer to the Xone42.

    - if you are to get the S2 you have a complete package and wouldn't really need anything else.

However, you had noted that you don't need the jogwheels, seeing that you already own the X1 I presume that it satisfies all (or most) of your controlling needs.

You also mentioned the S2 will lose value faster, which is correct, as it is only applicable in a few ways whereas the Xone 42 is a fantastic mixer (I used to own one for a couple years) and can be used by a wider range of people AND it has some phatty filters on it =D

On a personal level and judging from your comments I would suggest grabbing the Xone 42 along with a 2 channel soundcard (or 4 if you wish), it will be more expensive but it seems to fit your routine from my viewpoint. Hope this helped
