iTunes Question

So, I've just bought myself Serato SL3 and some Novation dicers. I am currently sharing a laptop with my girlfriend until I can afford to buy a MBP. I am planning on keeping all my music on an external hardrive to a) keep the laptop running well and b) keep our music seperate as I don't want her music mixed in the mine and vice versa. My question - is it possible for me to have a seperate iTunes account on my external HD to stop us having to use the same account with different login's?

On Mac hold down option on Windows hold down shift when you open iTunes and you'll get an option to either select a different library or create a new one.
