Xone: DX Soundcard Noisefloor

What is the noisefloor of the soundcard from the DX like (if it at all has one)?

Because I have noticed a slight high frequency beep (like the kind when your ears ring) coming out of the headphone output and the master out when I turn them past, say, 8 or 9.

Do other DX users on here experience the same, is this normal?

Because I am kind of worried that this would be to noticable when connected to a large system.

I remember experiencing the same thing with my DX. It took me a while to learn not to push the master too high and not to push the individual deck Gains too high either. I would start a night DJing thinking my DX levels were set and then as the night progressed and I pushed the DX master volumes and deck gains up, I would be in the red and experience "not so great" sound quality.

Dunno if your run the DX thru a mixer before it hits the amps...if you do, let the mixer to to give you the headroom you need.

Honestly I used to set the master to 11 oclock (and leave it there no matter what). And I never let the individual deck gains go above 12 oclock.

The DX does have some punch volume wise....but its also walks a fine line in the headroom department as it can go from sounding incredibly pristine, to sounding overloaded in 2 seconds flat.

Also its important to get your levels within Traktor (or Serato) in order....but you already know this im sure.

I dont use the DX anymore....but I will never forget it, and sometimes miss it.

IMO its soundcard is one of the best sounding I have ever heard and the drivers are rock solid.

Thanks for your reply. I have also asked A&H about it and with the levels that far open it is most likely to induce some cross talk and thus the noisefloor th DX will be amplified. In this case I was likely to hear SPI Bus noise.

The DX is very sweet indeed and I would be hard pressed to ever give it up
