Default Just bought VCI-100 (not SE).How to run with Traktor Pro?

First of all hi.Im new to MIDI controllers soo let start like that.

I bought the silver vci-100.I want to run it with Traktor Pro,but not with improved mappings for the SE.I want to use every single button on the controller as is on the software. No anything improved or changed.Where can i find such mappings?

And also another question.Do i need to update my firmware to be able to use it with Traktor Pro and buy the Firmware Kit to do it?

    All the best.

You do not need the firmware update to be able to use tpro. If you don't want to use any of ean's mappings just use the vestax mapping for traktor pro, its available from the vestax website. You also need to import the mapping in traktor pro once you have downloaded it. Go into traktor pro settings click on mapping and then import the mapping file. This mapping from vestax doesn't make use of every button on the vci but is fairly complete and straight forward. After you have played around with the vestax file you will learn its limitations. The firmware upgrade and eans mapping files allow you to use your vci with greater functionality, as in his videos.

Good luck and in the future post in the general forum for these type of questions.

Yes you can but you have to understand how to map each function. I don't mess with MIDI mappings yet, thats why everyone likes using Eans amazing mappings among others. There are many people on this forum who understand how to MIDI map extremely well. I am def not one of them!

Traktor Pro uses .tsi file for the mappings. To start off with, you can use the .tsi file that should be included in your Traktor Pro installation (it should be under the Documents\Traktor Pro\Settings\MIDI Mappings\Vestax folder). There, you should also find a .pdf file explaining the mapping. If you can't find this file, you can also download a mapping from the Vestax support site; however, I don't think that one has any documentation explaining the functions.

Once you import that file into Traktor (by clicking 'Import' in Preferences), you can view the mapping and also make changes to it. For example, if you would like to map one of the functions to another control, you would find that function on the MIDI mappings page, and have Traktor 'Learn' the new control there.

Once you've gotten a handle of the basics, you can get into more detailed issues like modifiers. All is explained in the Traktor manual, and there are plenty of gurus on these forums that can help you out.

    Hope this helps.

And i thought it was be simple.
Well yeah Eans mappings are great but im more of a mix dj (EDM) and from his videos and looking at the improvments that he made i think they will match the needs for scratch and hip-hop djs.I just want something simple and for my needs his mappings are a litle bit overkill.Dont get me wrong they are awesome, especially the improvments in the FX section but this is the only thing i would use more often.

Don't worry. The basic Vestax mapping is pretty intuitive - and you don't need to install any firmware to make use of it. That should fit the bill for what you're looking for: simple and straight-forward, with no crazy bells & whistles.

Yeah.About the firmware,in one of Eans videos he says that the firmware (1.3 i think) fixes some bugs and some other things on the vci.Is this only with the SE version or with every VCI console?Should i expect bugs and some things not working properly after upgrading to Traktor Pro?

I would upgrade to Traktor Pro, regardless of your firmware. Everything should work just fine, and probably the only "bug" you'd encounter would be that you can't map one of the FX buttons. I have firmware 1.1, and am using Traktor Pro; I find it much more functional than Traktor 3.

The VCI-100se is simply a VCI-100 with firmware 1.3. There is a special (Ean's) mapping that makes use of the new firmware features, and this mapping is reflected in the updated overlay. You can see the changes in Fw 1.3 here: http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1457 As you can see, the new features are really more for the advanced user. And don't forget, you can always upgrade your firmware later, if you choose to do so.

Well with your firmware version can you map all of the FX buttons?I bought the black version from HTFR so i think it should be with firmware 1.2.Hope i will be able to map all of the FX buttons here..looking at the efx in TPro i will be using them a lot.
