Awesome deal on 16GB RAM for anybody who produces or uses Ableton a lot!

This is a steal of a deal on 16GB DDR3 RAM. This RAM will work with the 2011 Unibody Macbook Pro's and newer. I'm picking this up simply for my Logic and Ableton use, as I know that having more free space for app-specific memory, as well as a larger general cache, will speed me up. This could benefit anyone who does a lot of intensive audio work with lots of virtual tracks and what not. Price recently came down from around 200 a few months ago, so once I saw it I just snatched it up. And at only around 50 dollars higher than the 8GB kit, it only makes sense to upgrade (for me at least) so that I know I'll be future proof, and won't have to waste money on an 8GB kit now, only to not use it when I upgrade to 16GB later.

Oh my bad, sorry about that. It just assumed any modern audio program would be 64 bit.

Are you sure you can put this in all macbooks 2008 & newer? On apples page it says that mine is upgradable to 8GB. I would like to upgrade mine but I dont want to waste money

Apple also said 2gb was the max at one point with the white MacBooks and 4gb ceiling I believe with the original unibody's (now 6gb) ..

Dunno if that was just down to the lack of manufacturers producing larger sticks back then perhaps - 16gb sounds nice though (in theory)... think I'll upgrade to 8gb on my aging MBP for kicks one of these days.

I was wrong. I accidentally said 2008 and up. It's actually 2011. On the Apple site, the 2011 ones say only up to 8GB, but they recognize and run 16GB unofficially. It works, Apple just won't tell you it does. Sorry for the mistake.

Pre 11 Unibodies cap at 8gb. Even when Ableton gets x64 support, you will more likely run out of CPU power before you get to use 8gb of RAM (yes, I use vsti with big ass sample libraries such as BFD2 and Kontakt).
