why
Well for one, it's a good deal as MK5s are the best next to M5Gs and having a pair of 1200s is pretty much the staple of a DJ. If it comes with Serato, you're all set and you'd be ready to start spinning. Once you get on Vinyl, you're not going to want to spin on a CDJ.
mmmm I dunno value wise its close, tough to say.
i would say go for it, MK5 are a rare find. Plus, they keep their resale vaule, unlike the cdj-900, you cant walk into GC and buy a pair.
It's honestly a really tough call.
Monetarily, it's a fair trade. Serato + MK5's vs CDJ-900's.
The difference being, do you want to be tied to a computer? With the CDJ's, you're not. Burn CD's, use Thumbdrives, and mix in that manner. With the TT's, you're going to need a decent computer, and you'll be using that as an essential part of your setup. There's nothing wrong with it, and personally I really enjoy Serato (and feel it's been a great aid in teaching me how to beatmatch using the visuals and then moving on to not needing them).
Think long and hard about it though, because it's really not the easiest thing to switch back from. There's something to be said for not using a computer in your setup, and there is also something to be said for the pure joy that comes from spinning vinyl (DVS or not).
It's something I debate often with myself, as I'd like to remove the computer from my setup but I just don't want to give up the turntables lol. And I can't afford to keep up with releases on vinyl.
If you're familiar with turntables and enjoy mixing on them I'd say its a great trade. I recently setup my decks again with serato and love it. My S4 has been sitting in its case for about 2 months. The 900s seem great too, I guess its a toss up on what you really enjoy more.
