Default MIDI Fighter worth a shot?

    *First Post*

Hi guys, ive been DJ'ing now for about a year, really enjoying it and my S4's are and awesome bit of kit that ive had lots of fun with. Ive seen people raving about the MIDI Fighter series of controllers and was wondering if they're worth the cash. Im interested in cutting and mashing up songs etc. Are they worth an investment, or is there anything they can do they S4 cant by itself?

My skills in the cutting/mashing/cue juggling department are very basic btw

if you want something that is just a set of very good quality, highly responsive buttons for stuff like cue point mashing then you can't go far wrong with a midi fighter

my midi fighter classic is awesome and built like a brick

Sweet. are they easy enough to map yourself/use downloaded mappings?

another great thing about the midi fighters - given how djtt created them there's plenty of mappings around and yep they are very easy to map yourself. just a different midi note sent out by each button. 4banks mode is a bit more interesting - where each of the top row sends out the same note but the other 3 rows send out different ones depending on which bank you're in. that's for a midifighter classic anyway which i think is quite an iconic little controller... the pro's have 4 extra buttons so they can be used for bank switching which then gives you 4banks of 16 buttons, the mf3d's also do that.

the pots on the mf pro seem cool - but i never really wanted one. would love to add a mf3d to my collection tho... if only for those 3 extra buttons and being able to select different colours for each button's led.

I'm really liking the build quality and responsiveness of the arcade buttons so far. For most of my purposes, the S4 buttons do just fine, but if you're planning on getting into a lot of cue point performances, it would be a good choice.

Well ive got some doh to throw for one of these, so the 3D looks like a good option. Plus it just looks Gucci anyway. Im sure id get good at using it, once the lights and colours stopped distracting me!
