Default Samples and loops How do you use them?

So i'm trying to learn how to produce lol I've been wondering for the longest time. How do you use loops and samples? What do you use them with or what are the steps to working with them.

lets saying i'm trying to make a song and i download some dubstep loop pack. I don't just drop the loop into an audio slot and play it as part of a song do i? o.O

Sure, you can do that. No one's saying you can't. The question is, do you really wanna go down that route?

Well personally I don't that's why i'm trying to figure out another way to use them it seems just to simple and lame to do something like that. If anyone has a guide/video or tips on how to do it i'd love that

Check out the Tom Cosm stuff on youtube or his facebook page. He's pretty good at showing you how to sculpt those packs and other stuff into what you want. He had one where he wrote his name in Ableton and made it sound halfway decent.

Use them anyways you want. Chop them up, stretch them, flip them, filter them, process the shit out them. Like I said, there's 101 ways plus more. The only thing holding you back is your creativity.

Watch FM with Avicii, he uses loop on loop straight, no changes....

When i use a loop i usually slice to midi (ableton) so i can change and effect each hit, and change the sequencing of the loop
