    Default QSC K10s w/ KW181 Advice

I was looking to buy my first set of PA speakers, but am limited in my budget. I was looking forward to rocking with a pair and a sub, but that is out of the question for now. I have about 1,850 to spare, and am curious weather I should buy just a pair or maybe one (going mono) with a sub.

I'm not sure how the K10s work with their lower frequencies or if even buying a sub is necessary. I'll be working with primarily house parties and rooms between 1500-3000SQ FT, depending on where and with who I'm working with. I'm also required to buy two stands if I am to go with just the pair without a sub, but if I'm to buy a single K10 with a sub, the pole is included.

    So either:

    K10s and purchase two stands

    OR

Single K10 with KW181 sub, comes with one pole on top of KW181.

Keep in mind, I need this very soon, so I'll be saving to order in another sub/speaker for a more complete set later on down. I just don't want to commit to a cheap pair with sub and cry about down the line.

might wanna look into rcf 12 inch, the 3 series and the 4 series have already a lot of bass in their tops and sound very good. search in some audio forums what people have to say about them. Don't be fooled by their wattage compared to the qsc, they go pretty loud.

    google rcf vs qsc

Thanks! Seems like a great deal for the reviews they receive, but I'm curious if the low range would be enough. Would a single 312a w/ a 905a sub be better than a stereo set without a sub be better? I'm just worried about the range these puppies go, despite the 12" woofer in them. I read up a little more and noticed some users commenting on how the highs are better on the 310a vs the 312a. Any opinion? Thanks!

    i have 2 422a and 2 rcf 718as sub.
But the the 310 are fine but you better use a sub a 15 inch will do fine first,
with 312 depends on what you gonna do you could start without a sub.

You might wanna look into brian s red youtube channel, he has done a lot of videos about rcf.

this might be an interesting set up to

By a stereo pair and add a sub-later. The K-10s are nice, but RCFs do seem to have the edge inloudness & clarity. For house parties the K-10s should be OK, I used them in a very small basement bar, but the addition of a sub would be ideal.

Brian's system looks pretty sweet too.

I can't seem to find the RFC model for purchase in the US. Their website list US distributors, but I don't see pricing anywhere. Amazon.com doesn't have them (so no reviews available, etc). Any info on this?

I couldn't get a hold of any of the RCFs quickly enough for the event. The folks at the big chain stores told me that it would take at least 7-10 business days and that wasn't even for sure. I resorted to buying something that was already there. A pair of Yamaha DXR12s and a DXS12, which was apparently on sale (that's what they say). I convinced them to throw in a pole and some XLR cables. I was actually a little disappointed in the K10s. They had really pronounced highs, but I felt they were a little cold and even distorted. They actually made my ears hurt! The DXR12s felt a little warmer and had a nicer price tag (even the sub was roughly 700, cut from 1000), although I was looking forward to listening to a 312A. The Yammies are relatively new to the market, so there wasn't much on them, but the ones I could find were positive. Over budget, but happy so far.
