Default CDJ 2000s, are they worth the high price?

I currently have a pair of CDJ 900s, and I love them! Slip mode is fun and I use it frequently. The only thing that really bugs me about the 900s is their lack of hot cues, which the CDJ 2000s have. The only thing that has kept me from grabbing them is their super high price tag, but I finally have some expendable money coming in.

Should I trade my CDJ 900s in for a pair of CDJ 2000s?

I think you should wait until the CDJ-2000 Nexus arrives as it is MIDI Capable and much more up to date. Not sure of the price tag on them though.

EDIT: Apparently the Nexus model is already available.

Pretty sure the CDJ2000mmk2 isn't out yet. Are you thinking about eh DJM900 nexus?

I'd swap them for the Denon SC2900s when they come out (assuming they get good reviews from the usual places, which is very likely going by Denon's rep). It's pretty much the CDJ900 but cheaper and with hot cues. Probably slightly better built too.
The downside would be that you'd have to have to do both Engine (for the denons) and Rekordbox (for when you are using CDJ2000s at the club)

I love my 2000s, you shouldn't have to pay too much to upgrade once u sell your 900s , assuming you bought a used set of 2000s

Still it is 1.5 times the price for that screen and cue points. Honestly I think I'd rather 3 900s. (because have 3 decks is cool)

Or 3 Denon SC2900s and an ipad for that big screen fix!

My thoughts about the 2000's are about the same as most of the rest of Pioneer's kit. Most of their strength is in their versatility and reliability, so they're amazing for promoters/venues etc. However, If you're a non-resident DJ, in most cases I don't think they're quite worth the price tag. There are just way too many features packed into it that you're paying for but will never use.

For example, you know they have 14-bit midi control, special integration with Traktor, and a high-end, stacking sound card? Great for a static pair at a club with guest DJs, but is a traveling DJ really going to use that? If that were useful to you, you would have just bought controllers.

Great opinions, guys! Saurus, I used to own an S4, but I felt that a laptop should be the last thing I wanted to look at when I interact with a crowd. I actually still own an S2 that's collecting dust. It is really expensive to upgrade, so I may just have to find other ways to change my sets without hot cues.
