"Taking a gig you knew you weren’t ready for, then completely blowing it on stage will most likely mean you won’t get booked there again. Or worse, any other place in your town if word gets out. Delaying the release of a film because you couldn’t get the score done in time, causing a well-known artist to miss their album release date, or other similar situations can have long term impacts on your dreams and goals."
So true, why haven't the mods made this a sticky yet? Especially for all those guys who post "Hey, I have to play an opening set full of deep house and I only know banging electro. Give me tracks please!"
Oh in those cases the DJ just changes his or her name after the reputation is gone :-). Yes, quality over quantity but it seems to be rare today.

I've always said that people will rise to their level of incompetence. You keep doing a good job and keep getting promoted, only to get promoted to a level where you have no idea what you're doing. I've had a few bosses where I've seen that happen first hand.
I dont know if this really fits here, but its a short super inspiring video.
